Rattle intermittent read and 520d 2013 f10

Post by Andybell » 26 Apr 2018, 22:33

Just had rear brakes done. Now I have an occasional rattle/rumble from the rear. cannot see any obvious things. No noise when wobbling car. Anybody have any idea? Literally just started . Last work was on rear brakes 3 days ago. Could there be any relationship between the 2?

Got all the hallmarks of a dust shield problem.

Lots of possibilities! Need more info.....

Did the problem start immediately after the brakes were 'done'
What was actually 'done'?
Who did the work? Mechanic or DIY?

Done at a mechanic. Only noticed a couple of days later. No noises prior to change of pads.
Thanks

Hmm. My first guess would have been someone forgetting the anti-rattle shims - but you can see them (or not) through the wheel? Otherwise, as per 'Rebel, the backing plate maybe, but it's a new car so shouldn't have come loose..........

Hard to say - I'd take it back to the mechanic.

It's the rear spring drivers side.
