Found it! It'd fallen down under the boot floor cover

Going out to check fuses in a bit

E-mail in your inbox with a good Ebay link (tried and tested product).....and a how-to. If both plan out (they will) we can post them on the Forum for others in future?

So I started with the cheaper option and bought some new bulbs, Mark Chambo pointed me in the right direction for a good source on eBay - £20 for a pair.

Anyway, fitted a new bulb last night (how to thread up later) but sadly it's not the bulb. Need to locate the fuses as I have no diagram in the car but just found out it's F5 and F6 in the glove box so will check those first but it's likely to be the ballast to be honest, might try and see if Quarry Motors have any units but it's a bumper off jobby :(

Try 24/7 spares? i used them last year and was amazed at what they came back with. They basically carpet-bomb a lot of different places and come back with the best prices....a bit like a certain price-comparison insurance site without the annoying opera singer!

For future ref on this thread, I got a used ballast from an ebayer for £60 - there's two types on the early E64's. Mine had the 3 screw fitting, I've got the 4 screw fitting in my garage if anyone needs one.
Had to test the obvious first so I've a bulb also if anyone needs one, PM me.
The front bumper needs to come off, you can't get at the ballast without taking the headlight out which actually wasn't too bad; http://tis.spaghetticoder.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; really useful.

Right my near side head light has just gone out,I thought this was just a straight forward bulb replacement now I'm thinking oh shit it's gotta go back into the garage to have the front bumper taken off ..!!! Could be interested in your spare bulb anthfinegan if you've still got it ?? Is it the standard colour K rating. Can I change the bulb through the little panel in the wheel arch, hopefully Neal or lewy can help me out with this one. Cheers

I'm gonna try & swap the bulbs over tomorrow to see if the left bulb works on the other side,it's through the little panel isn't it ?
