i-Drive secret menu's....do they exist?

Post by eddiec » 17 Mar 2018, 12:52

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum but on my second beamer.

Just got myself a 'forever' car if such a thing exists! Got sick of changing motors every 2 years so decided on a 116d 2015 with a gorgeous leather interior. I've even put a private plate on it to discourage me from getting rid.....

Anyhoo, the lads in work keep telling me about secret menu's on these new fangled interweb thingys that run everything on the dash.

Does the i-Drive have a similar hidden menu?

I noticed someone asking in another thread about upgrading their system for satnav, and it was prohibitively expensive.

Is it possible to activate satnav through these menu's?

What can I change through a hidden menu?

Cheers guys, I'm sure I'll have loads to ask in the future.

Does the i-Drive have a similar hidden menu? - Yes

I noticed someone asking in another thread about upgrading their system for satnav, and it was prohibitively expensive.

What can I change through a hidden menu? - Nothing that will help you

Certain codings regarding options can be carried out but not through any menus in the car.

Life's to short to be driving boring cars
It's all about the old school

Haha, I thought as much. :((

I know on the Audi you can change the config of the car sports set up and that sort of thing.

I was hoping for something similar on the efficient dynamics set up.
Maybe a softer suspension for a smoother ride. Obviously I wouldn't just change things for the hell of it, cos I'd end up cocking the whole thing up! :wtf:

Seems like they've (BMW) shut the door on such shenanigans.

Would still like to have a play though.....

You can code certain items in your car as long as you have the said items on vehicle in first place, not sure if that’s the hidden menus you are on about

You can't code anything in hidden menus, you can look at software versions and some hidden data like oil temp and reset certain service functions.
For activating features etc you need the proper coding software (NCS for E series, Esys for F/G series)
