INPA & DIS connection cables

Post by Zennon » 05 Mar 2018, 10:26

Morning,

Can you use the same ODB cable for both INPA & DIS? I have INPA and a cable which works and allows me to view & clear errors. When I try to use the DIS software it dosen't recognise the cable. Any idea?

Yes you can use the same cable but it is quite complicated to setup, you need to use DiagHead emulator, IFHsvr and setup a VM, then configure it all to work together.

I am curious as to why you think you need it though, what are you trying to do ?

My car is a mismatch of parts due to it's age and Cat D status. When checking the VIN details loaded on modules show different from the actual car (I'm guessing it was a donor vehile as they are all the same). As for as I know only DIS can change the VIN details against modules to match the car. My Bluetooth hasn't worked since I bought the car but I have noticted the module is showing the wrong VIN, so I'm guessing this may be stopping the telephone from working.

Is there a way of changing details with INPA?

You need to use Tool32 and possibly WinkFP (for re-flashing) however before you even think about using either of them I suggest you do some serious research into tutorials as both can kill modules very quickly.

Also note that certain modules cannot have VIN changed.
