Cost of E61 self-levelling suspension air bag??

Postby doddsy07 » 19 Jun 2017, 19:57

After going to get in my BMW tourer 2005 525,the left hand side rear had sunk so I started the car and it went up to the normal ride height but as soon as I turned the car off I heard a hiss from the wheel arch and it went down again. After I rang a garage they quoted £350 to replace plus labour,is that correct????? Can you buy aftermarket air bags? I replaced the compressor 18 months ago so it's not that.Thank you

Don't think anyone does a pattern part bag
I think they are about £180 each for a E39 so probably similar for a E61 so the price you was quoted wouldn't be to far out
All I would say is if one side has gone due to age the other side will be on its way out so best to replace both
Life's to short to be driving boring cars
It's all about the old school

Arnott list a bag for this model. They've got a great reputation with Range Rover owners as they make updated replacement bags w/ a lifetime warranty but I don't know if they're the same for 5 series. Have a look into them.

Regs.
