Runflat Tyre Inflation Kit?

Post by SnailyTime » 16 Dec 2017, 17:08

Hi Guys

I have a 2014 320i Sport Auto. With 18 inch Wheels and Run flat tyres. The car doesn't have a spare wheel as I'm sure you're aware. Later this week, the car will be licensed by the local council and "Plated" as a private hire vehicle. (It's going to be an Uber taxi) The council require the vehicle to have a Spare Wheel or if fitted with Run Flat Tyres a "Manufacturer Supplied Inflation Kit" I've had a look and can't seem to find this inflator kit. Should there be one somewhere? And if so, where's it hiding please?

Many thanks in advance

Simon

Cars with run-flats get neither a spare nor an inflation kit.

They are for cars with normal tyres but no spare - like the M cars.

Loads of kits for sale on eBay, Gumtree etc. both new and 2nd hand.

They come as standard on many Fords, LandRovers and vauxhalls, but peopleprefer a full size spare and sell the kit.

Search for Continental Mobility Kit.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Continental- ... 1006800499" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The alternative is a 'spacesaver' which takes up space in the boot.

Lots of them for sale too - if you go for one of them make sure you get the right overall diameter.
Always had a BMW since I collected my first one in Munich - a 528i in June 1982.

Different councils have different rules but generally if they have run flats you have to carry a spare as the manufacturer did not supply an inflation kit with cars that have run flats.

Why Uber? They are starting to get kicked out of every town and city across the country.....
