Emergency Bonnet Catch 2008 120

Post by lizzie » 14 Aug 2015, 18:57

Hi all
A friend of mine has a problem with the bonnet catch on their 2008 120. When they try to pull the catch there's no pressure so seems like bonnet cord might be broken or stretched. Does anyone know if and where there might be an emergency catch or way of opening the bonnet?

Many Thanks

Probably the plastic cog broken on the 'pull handle'

Take it off and check that first

I believe the E82s have two cables with a joining box. The more common issue is the release catch seizing. AFAIK it is possible to free the bonnet by applying upward force by hand to the bonnet edge whilst (someone else!) keeps pulling and releasing the handle.......
